:: Biography :: Michael Andrew Newell is an active musician, sought after as a composer, instructor, audio engineer, and performer. He has been performing and composing professionally since 2002. Michael soon ascended to arranger for music groups (including high school marching band, jazz ensemble/combo, rock band, chamber ensemble, and solo works) as well as adjunct composer/arranger for the modern big band, Tallahassee Swing out of Tallahassee, Florida, as well as maintaining the 2nd Alto Sax (+flute/clarinet) position. Since joining the Albany Marine Band (Albany, GA) in 2007, he has actively maintained the position of Chief Sound Reinforcement Technician/Audio Engineer. As an instrumentalist, Michael engages in the performance as 1st Alto Saxophonist and Bass Clarinetist for the Ceremonial and Concert Bands, respectively, maintaining an active performance schedule around the United States. In his free time, Michael enjoys reading, writing, drawing, rock climbing, taking road trips, and frequenting local coffee shops and supporting local business. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and visiting family in Tallahassee, Florida.
